Yes, all web sites are limited to 5 Megabytes for students and 10 Megabytes for staff and faculty. What kind of material can I post? You may post any personal or professional content you wish so long as it does not violate any state or federal laws, or any policies or practices held by Pittsburgh Technical Insitute. You may obtain more specific information regarding appropriate material by clicking on the Information link to the left or referring to the policy manual web page. The web material must not be business related, offensive to race, creed, or religion. The space provided is for hobby use. Where can I find the Policy on web site hosting? You may find the PTI Web Policy by clicking here: WebPolicy Are there any restrictions on how I create my site? Yes, all sites need to be coded via ASP or HTML. We do not change permissions on folders or register DLLs on the server. I only have one copy of my site. Will it be backed up by PTI? No, PTI is not responsible for backing up information. All users need to keep backed up versions of their pages in the event of potential data loss. Will my web content be used by PTI for any promotional activities? PTI reserves the right to use any and all content posted on its servers for promotional activities of its choosing. When will my page(s) be taken offline? PTI will take the web page(s) offline when you graduate or your status
changes to anything other than active. Page(s) will also be taken offline
that violates PTI web policy. Staff and faculty web pages will be taken
offline, in the event their status changes from active employee. The URL for personal web sites will be http://www.thewebdrive.com/username How do I connect to the web site so I may edit it? Connections to the web space are done thru the FTP protocol. All web page editors can utilize this method of transfer. Web pages can only be edited via FTP on the PTI campus, outside connections are prohibited. However you can view the contents of the web page on the public Internet.
